COACH SAPRINA SHOMARI
Club Director/ Coach
Coach Saprina has been playing volleyball for over 20 years. She was a defensive specialist at Washington College and a starting Varsity high school setter. She began coaching volleyball 13 years ago. She encourages her players to be their best. Saprina was named Cardinal District's Coach of the Year for the 2019-2020 volleyball season. She has successfully coached athletes of all skill levels. Many of her past athletes continue to play today, collegiately and recreationally. She is currently the Head Varsity coach at
Gar-Field Senior High School.
COACH ALEXUS FOREMAN
Coach Alexus has been playing club volleyball since she was 8 years old. Her love for the game is unparalleled. She was an Outside Hitter and setter at her high school, T.C Williams High School. She has earned many conference honors including 2, 1st team all conference teams, 2nd team all region, and honorable mention team her Sophomore year. She has been coaching volleyball for the past 5 years. Last season Alexus was the head coach for Evangel Christian School. She lead her team to an undefeated season, winning both the ODACS Class A and AA State Championship. She pushes her players to further their knowledge of the game and their mechanics within skill development. She is currently an Assistant Coach at Gar-Field Senior High School.
COACH LISA FRANKLIN
Coach Lisa began her volleyball career as a college player in Mahwah, New Jersey at Ramapo College where she
was a four-year middle hitter. She ended her playing career and received her B.A. in Literature/Minor in
African American Studiers in 1996.
She then enlisted in the United States Army and continued her love for volleyball, playing whenever and
wherever she was stationed, to include while deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq. She started coaching
youth volleyball while residing in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Her teams thrived on her love for the game, knowledge, dedication, and commitment of making them better on and off the court. Her coaching philosophy is built around “Team Work”. Volleyball is NOT an individual sport. She believes it is impossible to win a game without team work regardless of individual talents. She is currently in her third year as the Junior Varsity Coach of Gar-Field High School.
COACH RACHAEL TORRES
Coach Rachael is dedicated to training the whole person while providing support to be a good athlete. With over 30 years of experience, she served as captain and co-captain during her entire high school career. She enlisted in the United States Air Force after graduation. Due to an injury during basic training, she was released from her duties. Over the next 15 years, she started her family of three daughters. She played rec ball whenever the opportunity arose. In 2008, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, changing her life forever. During the next 7 ½ years, she was in and out of a wheelchair. In 2016, her youngest daughter showed an interest in volleyball, inspiring her to find her way back to the court. She began coaching her daughter which sparked her passion for the game yet again. This led to her coaching at the Boys and Girls Club, middle school level and club volleyball. Her coaching philosophy is “Don’t give me your coaches 100%, or your teammates 100%, or even your parents 100% … Give me YOUR 100% each and every point.”
